2025 U11 Tecumseh Rangers Travel Baseball Coaching Philosophy
Welcome to the tryouts for the 2025 U11 Tecumseh Rangers Travel Baseball Team! My name is Gary Filiatrault and I will be the Head Coach for next season's team. I am committed to continue to focus on the
player development, teamwork, and fun started by Ryan McGuire. My aim is to foster both athletic skills and life
lessons, and I invite you to learn more about our Coaching Philosophy and the expectations we
have for players, coaches, and parents during tryouts and as embark on the next year of Tecumseh Ranger Baseball.
A Philosophy of Dual Goals
My approach is anchored in two primary goals:
- To teach players essential life skills and positive character traits that will benefit them on and off the field.
- To develop the fundamental baseball skills and work ethic necessary for achieving team and individual success.
With this in mind, we encourage each player to understand the following key Team Expectations:
- Have Fun! Baseball should be an enjoyable experience for all.
- Hustle Everywhere: Players are expected to hustle in all activities, from practice to games.
- Practice Like We Play: Every practice is a crucial opportunity to sharpen both individual and team skills.
- Team First Mentality: Support your teammates at all times, foster positivity, and avoid cliques or negative behavior.
Expectations for Players
As this group of players will be 1 year older, I want to stress that playing time is earned through hard work and execution. Players are expected to:
- Be on time for tryouts, practices and games.
- Follow team guidelines and respect coaches and teammates.
- Work hard in during tryouts and practices without complaint or disruption.
- Understand that team success often comes from players taking direction and executing fundamentals and strategy.
Expectations for Coaches
Players can expect fairness, preparation, and communication from their coaches. Discipline for mistakes will focus on correcting mental errors or poor approaches, while physical mistakes (like strikeouts or fielding errors) will be met with support and encouragement.
Parent Expectations
We are all a part of this team and each parent or guardian plays a critical role in the success of the team. With this in mind, each of you will be asked to:
- Ensure their child is ready to meet the commitments of the season.
- Refrain from sideline coaching, leaving the instruction to the coaches.
- Respect decisions made by the coaching staff, especially regarding playing time.
- Follow a constructive process when raising concerns.
I will provide all players and families with additional information regarding this philosophy and the expectations.
The season promises to be filled with personal and team growth, competition, and fun, as the Tecumseh Rangers continue to develop both on and off the field. Together, let’s make the 2025 season one to remember!
